Light Adjustable Lens® (LAL®)

The Benefits of the Light Adjustable Lens®

The Light Adjustable Lens allows your surgeon to fine-tune your vision after surgery, once your eyes have healed. That means your final prescription can be adjusted based on real-world results and your preferences. Once you’re satisfied, the result is “locked in” for lasting clarity.

Key benefits:

  • Adjustable after healing for a more personalized outcome
  • Optimized clarity across distances (near, intermediate, and distance)
  • Less dependence on glasses for many patients after RLE

Your Path to Personalized Vision

Is the Light Adjustable Lens® Right for You?

If you like the idea of having more control over your final outcome, the Light Adjustable Lens is worth exploring. Unlike standard lenses, LAL can be fine-tuned after surgery using a series of quick, in-office UV light treatments so your vision can be adjusted based on how your eyes actually heal and what you prefer to see best.

The next step is simple: schedule a consultation to see if you’re a candidate and learn what the adjustment process would look like for you. Participating surgeons experienced with LAL will guide you through each step, adjustments, refinement, and final “lock-in” so you can move forward with confidence.

How the LAL® Works

During your consultation, you and your surgeon will select the lens option that best fits your vision goals and eye anatomy. In a refractive lens exchange (RLE) procedure, the surgeon typically removes the eye’s natural lens through a small incision and implants the Light Adjustable Lens in its place. The procedure often takes about 10 minutes per eye, and in many cases both eyes are treated on the same day.

Ready to See Life on Your Own Terms?

With most lens procedures, the prescription is chosen before surgery and that’s what you live with. The Light Adjustable Lens is different. It allows your vision to be fine-tuned after surgery, once your eyes have healed, so the result can be adjusted to better match your lifestyle and preferences.

If you want the option to refine your outcome and lock it in only when you’re satisfied, schedule a Free consultation to see if you’re a candidate. A participating surgeon will walk you through the process from evaluation to adjustments to final “lock-in” so you can move forward with confidence.
