How the LAL® Works
During your consultation, you and your surgeon will select the lens option that best fits your vision goals and eye anatomy. In a refractive lens exchange (RLE) procedure, the surgeon typically removes the eye’s natural lens through a small incision and implants the Light Adjustable Lens in its place. The procedure often takes about 10 minutes per eye, and in many cases both eyes are treated on the same day.

During the procedure, the Light Adjustable Lens is implanted in place of your natural lens, just like a standard IOL, but with one key difference: it can be adjusted after surgery.

Light Treatment Adjustments
Over several weeks, your surgeon uses a specialized UV light device to precisely adjust your lens power based on your real-world vision and personal preferences.
